first, you place your subject in an upright position, you then apply the bald cap with spirit gum or similar adhesive (available at theatrical supply stores), mix up a batch of alga-safe or similar alginate according to packaging directions (roughly the consistency of very thick pancake batter), you then take a handful of algasafe and dump it on there head, eventually covering the entire area you are casting, remember AVOID THE NOSE AREA, KEEP IT OPEN if you dont, your subject can suffocate so beware, after the alginate has set (it has become rubbery to the touch) place 14 6'; plaster bandages in warm watter and place in layers over the alginate. after the bandages have set up and hardend, have your subject lean over and wiggle there face to break the vaccum, the mold should wiggle free. now, mix up a batch of ultracal30 once again the consistency of thick pancake batter, and do your splash or detail coat, just slosh it around to guarantee even coverage and pick up all the detail. now line with hemp fibers/burlap and use the same now thickened ultracal ontop of the hemp/burlap and place in mold until desired thickness is reached, leave mold in a cool dry place to set. once the ultracal is set, you peel away the alginate and you have your moldHow do special effects makeup artists makeui molds if individual facial features?
